When Milk and Moscone were murdered, she was catapulted into the S.F. mayor's position. I remember she sported a dikey haircut and showed up for the gay pride parades all deck out in her tidy whiteys (the uniform of solidarity). Then, she became a Senator and made her way to the house appropriations committee where her husband made a fortune on government contracts. When the graft became apparent, she was 'investigated' by the house ethics committee(which she chaired). Nothing came of it. She truly was a swamp monster. re: confiscation of semi automatic weapons - "If I could have gotten 51 votes in the Senate of the United States for an out right ban, picking up every one of them....Mr. and Mrs. America, turn them all in.
