willie-pete
A pretty big deal. https://apnews.com/5597ff0f046a67805cc233d5933a53ed " Gen. Qassim Soleimani, the head of Iran’s elite Quds Force, was killed in an airstrike at Baghdad’s international airport Friday, Iraqi television and three Iraqi officials said. The strike also killed Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis, the deputy commander of Iran-backed militias known as the Popular Mobilization Forces, or PMF, the officials said. Their deaths are a potential turning point in the Middle East and are expected to draw severe retaliation from Iran and the forces it backs in the Middle East against Israel and American interests." 5

willie-pete
I wish they would have used the Ginsu missile so they would be sliced and diced a bit, but there is not much " plausible deniability " in the weapon . At best all they heard was the guy that said, " What's that noise ?" 2 2

For some time we simply absorbed acts of violence against us, claiming we had the "high road". Well, pee on the High Road. When you hurt us, we should hurt you much harder, to drive the point home that we don't tolerate harming US military or civilians. Previously we just encouraged more since we didn't do anything significant in response. This is the ME, home of stone age culture incapable of civilized behavior. This nonsense has been allowed to continue for far too long. There should have been no ROE after 9/11. Bomb the written language right outta them. 3

minervadoe
Resolve versus hot air. Wasn't this guy in Iraq trying to organize a Sunni revolt? It would seem that Iran is ready for the same. https://www.ncr-iran.org/en/iran-protests-2019 Quote The protests began on November 15, 2019 over a three-fold rise in gasoline prices but in less than 24 hours, the chants became entirely political. Iranians are chanting “Death to Khamenei” and “Death to Rouhani” on the streets of Iran. They want regime change. Quote The protests have spread to at least 190 cities in all 31 of Iran’s provinces. Protesters attacked centers of suppression, including government centers, security outposts, and state-affiliated banks, gas stations and seminaries, particularly those affiliated with the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC). Hundreds of buildings were torched or sustained serious damages. 3
pipedreams
This sort of shows what side the dem's are on. The guy that got whacked was involved in the overthrow of the Shah of Iran and has been causing trouble ever since. "Ben Rhodes, the Obama NSC spokesman who sold a gullible D.C. press corps on Obama’s nuclear deal with Iran, joined his fellow Democrats in a meltdown over President Trump authorizing the assassination of Iran Quds Force Major General Qassem Soleimani in a drone strike in Baghdad."
Historian
We have been in a proxy war with Iran since 1979 and this man was the head of it. Most of the presidents we've had have not had the courage to challenge Iran and they've gotten away with a lot. How many American's need to die because of this man? Over 600 in the war in Iraq. Including the three i knew. How many deaths in Syria, Israel, or Lebanon? It's not getting any better in Iran. He chose his path in 1979. Now he's done for. Too bad it didn't happen in 1979. He wore a uniform, he acted as a military man, was found outside his country causing problems, and now he's dead as one. We'll see what happens but i don't think it's going to be a full on war. 3
kerbie18
The fact that an Iranian General was in Baghdad should be a HUGE red flag. It doesn't speak highly of the Iraqi government that he ever got inside the country.

TXUSMC
Two things to remember: 1. In the world of terrorist leaders, this guy was first in his class. His primary goal was to hurt America by killing Americans. He needed to be taken out, and we took him out with extreme prejudice ( and as a bonus, got an Iraq bad guy with him). 2. General war with a Iran is unlikely, because Iran cannot win. They will strike through proxies. We need to be on alert, and Americans need to avoid the area (unless you’re part of a Navy carrier task force or a special purpose Marine air-ground task force).
