Best part of Christmas?

Best part was kicking in tonight. I finally got everything out of the way and the house cleaned. There is not a damn thing I will have to do for the next week. So I got into my car and drove to the biggest Wally World around, walked through the isles with zero stress or rush, just watching people freak out over the last shopping items to find. I drove around for a while and let traffic fly by. It is super relaxing when the world is in a rush, and you long have all your eggs in the basket. I do the same when we get hit with a Hurricane. I'm long prepared, and watch others trying to catch up.

My main Christmas day is Christmas eve. So I will spend the entire day tomorrow preparing my dinner (red wine fondue), hooking up my new gaming consoles, and playing Christmas movies like Die Hard.

PS: and I may throw in some reloading, for good measure!

Priorities. Those government _________ who said liquor stores were essential were correct enough, but they overlooked and in fact shut down many many equally essential businesses... such as hair salons.

I believe that my state shut down restaurants because the staff generally is low paid and the state thinks that they have no clout, so they are fair game.

Restaurants were quoted as being no more than 1% of the new cases.  However home improvement stores and retail stores are packed with customers.  Big business has the money to help themselves, not small franchises.

Point of fact, my town has municipal liquor stores, so the state bends to please the city.  Piss on the people.

All those massive lockdowns came from Demorats. They wanted to created as much chaos and frustration as possible in this election year, well knowing that their mainstream and social media strongarm will blame it all on Trump. Enough sheep bought into the Trump hate and voted for the socialist dictatorship in the making.

It was so obvious, but people are blind. Or ignorant. Or both.

The thread title always reminds me of a coffee commercial punch line.

That was my first thought as well. It reminded me of a Folgers commercial: “The best part of waking up is Folgers in your cup.” My father drank Folgers instant coffee from as early as I can remember. As an adult, I always had a jar in the cabinet, in case he visited. He passed away in August. I’m sure I still have a jar of the stuff somewhere though.

Funny. My dad was a Sanka man. I never figured out how they called Sanka coffee, but it is about all he'd drink. Whan he came over, he'd dig around in the cabinet and find his jar, even though there was perfectly good brewed coffee to drink. I guess you develop a taste for things.

I sure miss him, even after 22 years.

Ingrained habits are very hard to break.  I know you won't believe this, but, I have some.

I found last night that Coke and Tequila makes an acceptable beverage.

Ha! I'd be down for that right about now.

One of my last drinks before I stopped drinking (not counting rare occasions like today) was this:

- 2 parts of quality (smooth) gin

- 2 parts of quality (smooth) tequila

- 2 parts of quality (smooth) vodka

- mixed

- poured over small cubed ice in a large and tall long drink glass

- topped off with 7UP

- served with one slice of (lime submerged) and a stick to stir, no straw

Had to experiment with different liquor brands and somehow managed to find a combo that really clicked. I forgot the brands. I tested these at News Bar on Miami Beach where I was a regular. They even added that drink to the menu for a while and named it after me.

The best part? Probably the food.

Today, I'm preparing ribeye and filet mignon steaks on the cast iron skillet, along with some potatoes.

About half the family wants Chinese takeout. General Covid's chicken plus white rice.
