I had a boss that thought the company was working great. Founded in about 1912. He took over from his father and ran it the same exact way his father did. Had a large secretarial and accounting staff. Refused to adopt computers except for a rudimentary inventory management system. Everything was done by hand.

All sales were cash for small walk-in sales, purchase orders from large institutions, state and federal agencies were on a net-30 with PO, checks only after you set up an account. NO CREDIT CARDS.

And he actually laughed at the guy who came in and gave a presentation on the up and coming internet. He laughed at the idea that anyone could use a computer to make purchases. Hell, nobody even owned a computer.

We were an industrial electronics company. Our clients included NASA, DOD, major universities, the big three automakers, everyone in aerospace.

But we were doing fine! He and the VPs made a lot of money. Drove top end cars. Lived in big houses. The company was doing great. Until it wasn’t.

We, the Peons saw the writing on the wall long before the crash. We should have become the one stop internet shop for all things electronic. From a single resistor to custom built electronic assemblies. The Amazon of electronics  

Management said it was all working great as long as their big paychecks kept coming and us workers keep our heads down and just labored on for pennies and the promise of stock options and retirement benefits.

It all crashed in a matter of weeks. The US Government and most big institutions all switched from Purchase Orders to credit cards. We were instantly dead in the water. By the time they got into credit cards our tiny competitors had already jumped on the early internet. We were dead.

Senior management said they never saw it coming. We had been screaming about it but EVERYTHING WAS WORKING GREAT!

Long story but I see a similarity here. The country’s senior leaders are looting the economy. They are getting rich so it must be working. Right?

I just did a Google image search for 'Biden Looking Stupid' and another for just 'Biden'. The search returns were virtually identical.
