Outlook on life

Projects, LOL.  My project list is endless!  Right now there is a tiny project going - Today I'm canning beef stock made from the soup bones that were taking up space in my freezer, 'cause I need the freezer space for the chooks, ducks, and rabbits that are overdue for FreezerCamp.   Then I'm cutting up some cube steak and canning that, too, to use in some beef stews this winter.  Tomorrow I will can some rabbits I'm thawing because their vac-seal bags have unsealed, and I don't want them to get freezer-burned, and I need the freezer space for the ducks (because whole roast duck is my fave, but these are Jumbo Pekins, so they are bigger than my meat chickens and take up a lot of space.

The truly FUN project is two quilts I'm starting - one is a Mongolian pattern based on the blanket? rug? they often hang in the door of their yurt, and the other is a spider web pattern I bought on my vacation last week - that one will use up a bunch of scraps from my blues bin, and a bunch of very light colored scraps for the webs. This is totally breaking my rule about finishing all the quilts I have in various points of done-ness (I hate binding, so I have an unfortunate number of quilts that just need that last step done to be finished.  And I like piecing the tops more than actually quilting them, so I have a bunch that are stopped at that stage - it's probably time to take the bed-sized ones to a long-arm quilter, just so they get done in my lifetime!)

I should post some of the pics from my vacation last week - the BighornMts are still my favorite place in all the world...

LMAO, look in a mirror and start there. You seem stressed. Don't let it get you. Looking for bad nooz will lead you straight to it, no matter. Kinda like those here complaining of SJW ruining movies. It does ruin a lot of them, but if you go in looking to be irritated, you'll find it, no matter what. Probably find something to gripe about in Steamboat Willy.

I used to stress over just about everything. My personality was just high strung. I don't recommend the "cure" that I had, but it sure is a pleasant change in my outlook. I'm still an a$$hole, but one at peace with myself that I never knew existed.

This sin't your first reference to being stressed to the limit, so watch out for yourself.

Just saying.

None of that changes the fact that many threads around here are plain and simple negative. Remove the spamming on the image threads and its the majority.

Looks like I nailed it and instead of seeing the reality, you'd rather continue on that addictive path of pessimism.

Has nothing to do with perception when so much content is negative.

i`m a really Positive Person.

in times like these i look on the up sides.

Liberal policies are becoming a reality and more and more people see them as failures.

crime is out of control just in Democrat areas, more and more people are buying firearms and preparing to protect themselves and record numbers are legally concealing.

during The China Plague more and more people became preppers and  self sufficient.

we see the the Yuge! accomplishments of just 1 year ago being wiped away and realizing who has done that.

these things to me are great, and only show we were right all along and how much fun it is to watch the Socialist snake eat its Tail and the Liberal firing squad get in a circle.

nothing cant be undone, it just takes people with the Grapes to do it.

i have no real outside projects now as during the China Plague lock downs and Elections i over projected and need some project free stress time now.

but plans are creeping in and projects are stirring.

I hope you find peace. You start the thread on all being negative, and argue with anyone who says otherwise.

Get a hobby, get a pet, get a friend, get a girlfriend, get a therapist. I hope it works out and will see you on the other side, but won't be seeing any more of your posts.

Been considering it for a while, just held out in hopes for you.

It’s easy to get yourself dragged into the muck, especially if a guys spends any time at all on social media, or, arguably worse, watching the news.

A few weeks ago, my Dad, 86, had himself tied in knots because he had been on a FOX News marathon.  He was now convinced that Socialism was going to be instated before September rolls around.  I had to chide him just a little, because the solution was simple:  He needed to stop watching the news.

Even if true, what could he personally do about it?  Nothing!  Suddenly, his outlook is brighter, and he’s laughing again.

I had a friend tell me once, that the reason bad news gets so much traction is because it’s rare compared to all of the good news that happens every day.

Now, projects:  I have a camp knife I really need to finish, I’m refinishing a friends old target rifle, and I have a Sears & Roebuck AM radio from 1935 that I need to do something with.  Any suggestions?

Oh, that’s the plan.  But how?

Bring it up to speed with all new electronics, including Bluetooth and high quality speaker, or attempt to restore with solder and vacuum tubes?

Im a little negative on the restoration business.  I’ve read that some of the early radios were a little dangerous.  Keeping in mind that an AM radio was relatively high tech at the time, this particular model grounds to the frame, and I’ve heard they can light on fire or electrocute with some level of commonality.  The power cord that came with this one is a little crisp.

I need hobbies and projects? Well lets see:

- Minivan camper build, which I share here

- I'm a day trader, run my own trading group with currently 122 members, which I have shared here many times as well

- I'm a passionate cook, I run my own thread here

- I'm a watch enthusiast and collector, have 2 watch threads here, adding all the time

- I have a Lego collection worth 20k, also shared here in my Life goals thread

- I have my own electronics lab and shared my LiPo4 battery build here

- I own 4 reloading presses inducing 2 Dillons, shared a bunch here, but reloading is dead on this forum

- I shared a bunch from SHOT show, go every year, see image gallery

What are your hobbies and what do you share here? I mean other than adding to the negative threads?

I see... nada.

Thank you for sharing.

I indeed can turn off the news. And then I come here and get the concentrated crap of it all. As I wrote in my other thread, you can't escape it anymore, unless you go entirely offline.

Love your projects, and would REALLY love to see your own threads with a few photos and updates down the road.

Seeing a radio restauration would get me hooked quickly.

Not that old, but I brought this 80s SONY world radio back to life by replacing all caps.

If you have a motorcycle,  you have to leave everything behind.

I gave it up several years ago. Florida traffic has become a nightmare and we can't lane-split here. It's also 8 months out of the year too hot. On top of that, we have many tourist that don't know the area. They tend to make last second lane changes etc. Prime chances to get smeared. Last but not least, I'm past the hill and bones heal slowly. The broken bone in my wrist needed one year to grow back together. Doing everything single handed gets old quickly.

Needless to say, yall can do whatever you want, and I don't run this place to begin with.

But have you guys EVER considered why we don't see ANY new members here?!

Have you ever considered that a potential new member looks at the thread index page and all he or she gets to see is a bunch of political hate and biggering, mixed in with a few threads full off memes and copy & paste images? How inviting may that be?!

I really wish this forum would be a bit more inviting so we may see some fresh faces. Maybe Eric could get a second chance with a growing forum, he really would deserve it!

Again, how about replacing 50% of the "Dems are bad" threads and posts (we are in a ******* echo chamber to begin with!) with personal threads, filled with personal photos, new ideas, etc?

You need a motorcycle AND some mountains.

Every time I'm there,  it only takes me about ten minutes to remember why I detest most all of Florida.

Florida is not just that. I don't pay any state income tax here, we have excellent gun and stand your ground laws, I have the best beach in the nation right in-front of my nose, Florida is a red state with the best governor period. I'm in a red country where people fly Trump / DeSantis 2024 and Come get them flags. House and living prices are still cheap around my neck.  I can be in the Bahamas in 2 hours and the entire Caribbean sea is close by. Got a 1k yard rang 20 min from my house.

I pooped today.

Sure, I ran out of my Y2K toilet paper just as the covid terlit paper craze hit. But I should be good for a while again, now.

Going out west to look at some real estate soon. Gonna be mighty funny, packing that much toilet paper in a U-Haul. I'm sure I'll have some wise ass friend complain about carrying that AND all the ammo cans...

Maybe we should arrange a back yard bonfire at my "compound" way out North. Cook some dead moose and salmon over the coals.

Nice!  What was your source for spare parts?  Honestly, I have no idea where to start.  I’m leaning towards modernizing this one, but I’m wondering if I should just cannibalize something else to get this done.
