Tomb of the Unknowns Guards Begin Use of Custom M17 Pistols

"Yesterday, Tomb Guards from the US Army’s 3d U.S. Infantry Regiment (The Old Guard) were presented with 4 ceremonial M17 pistols at Arlington National Cemetery. These works of art were created by SIG SAUER specifically for use by the Guards."

Great. Just great. One more thing to strip and detail prior to every walk.

That's enough alcohol for her to want to have sex with me.  I would proudly be her rock bottom moment.

The best thirty seconds she'd have all day type of lovin'.

Give her some of that Tom Bodet loving by leaving a light on for her.

Is that a machine gun? Looks like more than one shot per trigger pull to me.

Not a machinegun.  It is a two barrel, inner/outer chambered cylinder (usually of 20 round capacity) handgun probably made in Belgium.  The hammer has two firing pins - one above the other - and as the hammer is cocked, the cylinder seems to rotate only half as far as it should; in reality cocking the cylinder rotates the firing chambers between the top and lower barrel.  This all sounds confusing and the handgun is certainly not as compact as a standard 6 shot produced in America, but they worked pretty well and gave lots of firepower though the cartridges were usually-but not always- smaller caliber than we are used to.  Many of these firearms were also produced for pinfire cartridges which were somewhat popular in Europe.

There are none on record as large as the one in the pic with the soldier, it's twice the length I can find of any recorded, and about 4 times their average size.

Either way, I'm not planning on visiting the jungles of Vietnam anytime soon.
