Trains

We had one puffer-belly go by,  in Waco,  thirty feet from our back door (I forget it's name).

It was it's last run,  going into a museum.

The sound and "puff-puff" smoke was truly awe inspiring.

>We heard it coming from five miles away<

We'd throw beer cans at all the other trains, 24 / 7.

But we "WOOOO!" 'd this one,  arms raised,  and they blew their whistle at us.

I was somewhere (Allentown?) central PA this week and saw a puffer-belly chugging down the tracks.

Full-sized,  but small.  It looked, pretty much,  totally unrestored.

It was pulling a couple passenger cars.  Also pretty unrestored looking.

Probably a "scenic ride" thing.

I was driving through town,  and saw enough black smoke (it's my living),  to make me severely crane my neck.  Ten times.  My instant first thought was that I need to get pictures.

But I was going 35,  and it was going .4,  so I'd have to turn around,  and run after it on foot, or something.  And it was peeling off the main road.  And that's how you get hurt.  Chasing trains.

So I committed it to memory.

Good thing I documented it.
