Administrators Eric Posted March 19, 2023 Author Administrators Share Posted March 19, 2023 1940 Duesenberg Model SJ Town Car Cabriolet, bodied by Rollson. This D chassis was ordered by famous German artist Rudolf Bauer in 1937 and wanted German coachbuilder Erdmann and Rossi to build an extravagant body for it. The bare chassis was ready to be shipped to Berlin in 1938. But Bauer's brush with the Nazis forced him to move to the US in 1939. Since the D chassis was still in the US, Bauer commissioned Rollson ( which was earlier Rollston) to make the body. The car was completed in 1940.

Here's a front view with the hood closed and a rear view. I could do without the big orange fog lights. 2

The fastback coupes were much better looking. And after GM stopped providing them with Chevy engines they started putting 428 Cobra Jets in them.

tous
Ford said, Cripple Offy, they're better than us, and USAC did as their master ordered. Then Ford got the Daytona banned when Chrysler was beating them in stock cars. If Ford had just a touch more clout, they would have had Ferrari banned from Le Mans. <--- never owned a Ford, never will
pipedreams
"Since last summer, Dodge has been rolling out powerful special-edition “Last Call” versions of its gas powered muscle cars, culminating with an event Monday night to show the Challenger Demon 170 at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway drag strip. The new Challenger Demon, a descendant of a car that first went on sale in 1969, also produces 945 pound-feet of torque, or rotational force — so much power that the company had to strengthen the rear drive shaft and differential with aerospace-grade metals." https://news.yahoo.com/last-call-dodge-unveils-last-010809019.html
Borg warner
15 hours ago, Eric said: Those Offenhauser engines were capable of producing a lot of horsepower and I'd really like to see one in a nice 32 Ford roadster but it's never been a popular engine probably because they've always been more expensive than most American V8's and not really streetable with 15 to 1 compression and Hilborn injection. But these days people spend as much money on an LS7 or a Ford Coyote engine so why not? The "Cool" factor would be off the charts! I couldn't find many pictures of the kind of hot rod I'm talking about except one and the car is painted a stupid lilac color and It doesn't show the whole car and the exhaust pipes don't extend out past the body because of the folding hood and for the same reason the chrome intake stacks wouldn't stick out the other side. Oh well, at least someone made the initial effort, they just didn't really follow through with making it look as cool as it could have been. 4
