Administrators Eric Posted March 15, 2023 Author Administrators Share Posted March 15, 2023 I always liked the Stag, stupid name and all. The Brits didn’t stick V-8s in many sports cars back then. 3

The galoot that suggested those skinny little tires needs to be second in line to be corrected. I do really like the color, but if the wheel and tire package were a bit higher of an aspect ration, they would look and ride a lot better.

Believe road vehicles once had thin solid rubber tires on metal wheels, and sometimes appears they are back in style.

I wish their were more affordable sport options in the US. I like the MB E wagon and the Audi version but can't afford it. A VW Jetta wagon with a GTi engine would be awesome.

There is a trend in Europe where performance and luxury/performance cars are modified into wagons. They call them Shooting Brake cars, for some reason. Here one of my favorites:

I like it but it should have a buick engine, not a chevy engine. Either a 425 nailhead or a Buick straight eight.

In those simpler times folding the middle and rear seats made a play/nap area for young children. Luggage went on top in the luggage rack, wrapped in tarp and well secured. Market turned from station wagons to mini vans then still later to SUVs. I stayed at the mini van stage.

tous
That looks very much like the Auto Union Grand Prix racers of the 1930s, but I don't recall having seen one with dual rear tires. Given the state of metallurgy, no roll bar, tubes in tires, engines that could come apart at any moment, almost non-existent brakes, the fellers that drove those automobiles had balls as big as boulders. 3

Administrators Eric Posted March 17, 2023 Author Administrators Share Posted March 17, 2023 In spite of the plaid interiors, I really love these cars. Well, the plaid interiors and the wiring. And all the soft steel slot-head screws. And a body that rusts if you sneeze in its direction. And an engine that leaked oil at the factory, even before they filled it for the first time. But yeah, I really do like them. Seriously.

The Buick 215 cubic inch V8 with higher compression, ported heads, and a higher lift and duration camshaft would easilly be capable of 200 horsepower.
