I’m not sure what the point of the eight carb setup was, except for show. It’s not like each one really feeds an individual cylinder. They are all feeding the impellers of the same blower. What they did was create a PITA job for whoever had to sync those carbs. Anyway, the chain drive on the blower is pretty cool.

One interesting thing about the carb setup. The fuel line for each carb has an individual petcock to kill the fuel to that carb. Again though, I don’t see the point of it. You could accomplish the same thing with jetting on a single carb. Maybe Rube Goldberg’s cousin built Hemis, back in the day.

I remember those nasty Stromberg 2 barrels. They were a PITA, but the old hot rodders love them.

Ideally, you would want them set up on a progressive linkage so that they stepped in one pair at a time, but what you actually have there is 8 potential fire starting fuel leaks! Thats probably the reasoning behind the individual fuel petcocks.

Still haven’t understood the rationale for sticking the chauffeur out in the weather. No longer having to handle reins.

Yeah, it didn't make any sense after the advent of motor cars, you're absolutely right about that. Other than to remind the chauffeur that he was just an employee ...?
