Walt Longmire
I toured this aircraft and paid for a 1 hour flight in Alaska back in 2002. An experience I will cherish the rest of my life. 5

misterfox
I am saddened beyond words over this. Prayers for the dead and injured, and sadness over losing a piece of our heritage. My son and I flew on the 909 in 2015. It was an awesome experience, and it provided some perspective to what the flight crews had to deal with... 5

tadbart
I've seen her fly over, and stood beneath her her great wings. A dear pilot friend has ridden in her. Truly a loss to history and posterity, and the remembrance of the Greatest Generation who rode these fearsome beasts into battle. 2

Walt Longmire
When it was in Kenai, I spent the entire weekend at the airport checking out 909 and the B24, Witchcraft. Was a first class event by the Collins Foundation.

SC Tiger
Sad for the loss of the plane, but also for the loss of the two pilots and the passengers (if there were any). Edited October 4, 2019 by SC Tiger
Moshe
The closest I got to all these beasties was the boneyard. Of course, they needed love to be restored.
SC Tiger
Of course, "Da Nang Dick" Blumenthal is now throwing his opinion into this (as if we care what he thinks): https://www.foxnews.com/us/world-war-ii-bomber-crash-connecticut-safety-oversight-vintage-aircraft
tadbart
It fascinates me how so many of us here have a personal experience or memory with this specific aircraft.
