I have a crew of those from all over the neighborhood that come to my bird feeder to clean up the seeds that fall on the ground.

They are neat and keep to themselves causing me and my old dog no problems.  When they are done they all scatter back where they came from.

It's fun to see them coming for dinner from all directions, on the security cameras.

I gave this two seconds of thought, and came to the conclusion that the relationship between people and Dogs and Cats is interesting.

Dogs and Cats in the beginning, were predators.  Man was a predator.  When man was laying by the fire, a dog or cat approached looking for easy prey, something to eat.

The man gave the animal something to eat to placate its instinct to kill something.  The man went to sleep, the animal now fed, probably slept.  But for its own survival, it was always alert to a threat.  The man, not so much.

Soon the animal found that by staying with the man it got fed and had company for those times it's stomach was full, and it wanted to just loll around.  During this time the man stood watch over them.  The animal got some time off from being threatened.

It was a mutually beneficial relationship. The animal had a full stomach, and company that provided a more physically threatening presence as a group, to other predators.

Man and animal complimented each other.  The both benefitted from companionship and or the desire to belong to a pack.

This is my story, it may be proven to be BS, but it's mine and I'm sticking with it.

Someday I will address just how the Yorkshire Terrier was responsible for the demise of the Dinosaur.  But I need my nap now.
