SC Tiger
Well - looks like NYC has managed to cost themselves a lot of jobs. The HQ2 that Amazon was going to build there, has been cancelled. https://www.nytimes.com/2019/02/14/nyregion/amazon-hq2-queens.html?smtyp=cur&smid=tw-nytimes
pipedreams
Why would any business want to locate in NYC with all the oppressive regulations? Yes there is source for labor but with all the demands and high cost of living I would go somewhere else.
janice6
Liberals will never learn that overregulation and dictating how businesses will conduct their affairs will most certainly kill incentive. Politicians are not known for their business skills, nor their ability to solve problems. They only take money and give it to organizations and individuals that will line their pockets and provide them votes. They are the virus to a business climate.

Will Beararms
I worked in the area for years and still have family in Manhattan. Their politics are horrible. This couldn’t have happned to a nice state. Edited February 14, 2019 by Will Beararms
Moeman
More like NY stopped Amazon. No huge subsidies for mostly crap paying jobs; they will survive.
Will Beararms
I bet my state would take the HQ.

That is, unless they're "unwilling to work", in which case she'll make sure the government gives them money. Dric902
Cuomo is not happy with the “New Dems” New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo lambasted politicians such as Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and others over Amazon's decision to leave New York City. Opponents of the deal with the tech giant had "put their own narrow political interests above their community," he said. "[A] small group [of] politicians put their own narrow political interests above their community -- which poll after poll showed overwhelmingly supported bringing Amazon to Long Island City -- the state's economic future and the best interests of the people of this state," Cuomo said in the statement, which did not mention Ocasio-Cortez or other lawmakers by name. .

DWARREN123
It happens, too much conflict and it would have been up to a year before complete approval by a board to get the incentives if they ever got them. Huaco Kid
Now (per Rush) (and he supplied the audio-clips to prove it), Cortez is reveling in her success and vowed to spend the $3 billion they saved on schools and transportation, not realizing that there IS NO $3B (!). It was a tax deduction that was granted on an expected $30B in taxes that would be collected from amazon over the first ten years. 1
