Local politics is nothing, ask anybody on the street to name their Mayor, and if it isn’t New York or Chicago, they have no clue. Governor? State Rep? What is the last bill your Governor signed? Did you support it or oppose it? What was on the last ballot measure?.....no idea. A surprising percentage of people know Pelosi on sight but have no clue who their Rep is. This is how we got Omar people voted “against Trump” and didn’t even look down ticket. There are people in Minnesota that don’t know that she represents them. but they know Trump and can quote, chapter and verse, the latest talking points and responses. True or not. we had a Presidential candidate who had such a blind following that whatever they said or did didn’t matter or was flat out denied as a lie from the other side. He was a black sheet of paper to be filled out with whatever you wanted him to say, wanted him to be, wanted him to stand for. regardless of history or past positions, the followers chanted campaign slogans and followed with their painted canvas held up in front of the actual candidate. And attacked without hesitation any and all criticism of their selected leader, no matter how slight or unimportant the deviation from the party line. It was immediately attacked with “shut up” accusations meant to stop all conversation to the contrary. Im not talking about Trump, that’s how we got Obama. but the equal and opposite reaction has happened. There are some, not any here of course, that look at Trumps face on Rocky’s body and get literally anger of someone says it’s ‘doctored’. They will look at an AOC meme saying something stupid about Relations with Turkey and Thanksgiving turkeys and smile, maybe chuckle.....and some believe she really said that. These are the people who would pre order Melania bath water of it was marketed. We have entered Entertainment Politics where the ‘other side is the epitome of evil’ and no matter what we have to say or do to defeat them is justified. The ends justify any means necessary. That was the perview of the left after LBJ, if you asked a conservative in the 50s what they wanted from the government they would have most likely said “to be left alone” today we have an Avengers movie in DC. Very little of it is true or real, it is all spun and triangulated for the maximum effect on poll numbers, fundraising, and the ever present need to be “trending” The entire impeachment is hopeless, there is no conceivable way the Senate will convict absolutely none. No election will be ‘overturned’ no vote will be ‘erased’ none but....how many Reps have you seen on national news that you have never heard of? How much fundraising has been accomplished?
