DeSantis approves $1.5 billion of Everglades restoration, water quality projects in budget.

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – Gov. Ron DeSantis held a press conference on Monday committing to signing $1.5 billion in Everglades restoration and water quality improvements in the state’s upcoming 2024-25 budget.
He also celebrated his previous work in securing funding for the state’s natural resources during his first term in office.
“I have approved another $1.5 billion for Everglades restoration and water quality improvements,” he announced.
DeSantis said when he took office in January 2019, Florida came from a period of “benign neglect” of its natural resources and environmental concerns.
“We set out a very ambitious agenda to be able to tackle these challenges, not just with Everglades, but with water quality more broadly in the state,” he said.
He added how, when he assumed office, he pledged to secure $2.5 billion in Everglades restoration in four years.
“Not only were we able to satisfy that promise, we far exceeded it,” he said. “In the first four years my first term as governor, we were able to do $3.3 billion for Everglades restoration and water quality improvements throughout the state of Florida.”
He added how at the beginning of his second term he pledged $3.5 billion by the end of his governorship.
“In our current fiscal year now, which ends June 30, this is the first since we made that promise, we did almost $1.7 billion alone, just in this current fiscal year,” he said.
DeSantis also celebrated that, as of the press conference, the state has broken ground or completed over 70 different projects relating to Florida’s natural resources since he took office.
Shawn Hamilton, secretary of the Florida Department of Environmental Protection, celebrated the governor’s work in protecting Florida’s natural resources.
“The governor mentioned he made a lot of bold promises, but what’s important is that those promises have not only been kept, they have been exceeded,” he said.
Hamilton added how the communities across the the state all benefit from the investment into Florida’s natural resources.
“In order to be good stewards, to leave Florida better than we found it, it’s gonna take a collective and balanced approach to be able to accomplish those goals,” he said. “And Governor DeSantis’ vision, his leadership for the environment, has created an incredible momentum for the state.
Drew Bartlett, the executive director of the South Florida Water Management District, thanked the governor and the legislature for their leadership and willingness to protect Florida’s water resources.

The hippie's must be pissed that the Hamas rioters are overshadowing their two most important holidays:

4/20 and Earth Day.

<--- was at the first Earth Day

<--- has ignored it ever since

In recognition of Earth Day, one of our old oak trees succumed to root rot.

Teacher Wins Lawsuit After Being Fired for Not Giving Unearned Grades,

Now Running for School Board

Her six-year battle against the school resulted in her winning a six-figure settlement from her former employer. Mimbs is now seeking to affect change by securing a school board seat.

he says back in 2017 an assistant principal wrote a note to her telling her not to give students grades less than 60, even if they didn’t turn in any work.

“I went to the assistant principal and she was like, ‘Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. You need to change those grades. Kids can’t have less than a 60,’” Mimbs described.

Mimbs says after she complained, her contract wasn’t renewed. She sued and won.

“I knew I was being retaliated against,” she said.

The jury ordered the district to pay her six figures in monetary damages for retaliation. It has to pay her attorney’s fees and most importantly it had to reverse her non-renewal. She says that non-renewal was keeping her from getting teaching jobs.

Now after the court victory, Mimbs hopes to get a victory at the polls.

Germany is cutting down many of its historic forests to make way for giant windmill farms. As you say, it’s for the planet.

Last week we learned about Joe Biden’s latest foreign policy disaster.  The situation in Niger could top the Afghanistan withdrawal – if that is possible.

Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL) totally embarrassed the US Army Secretary and exposed Joe Biden’s latest foreign policy catastrophe during questioning this week in the US House of Representatives’ Armed Services Committee hearing.

Gaetz exposed the latest Biden foreign policy failure – this time in Niger, Africa.

US troops are trapped in the country allegedly without water and medicine. The Army was likely hiding this to protect itself from embarrassment. Deployed Americans are in limbo and unable to do their jobs and the Biden State Department is completely outmaneuvered once again.

US Army Secretary Christine Wormuth, a potential DEI hire, was stunned and speechless when Matt Gaetz confronted her about the trapped US soldiers in Niger a country in tremendous turmoil.

It now appears the US has a trade offer from the military junta in Niger.  The Russian-backed military junta in Niger will release the 1,000 US soldiers trapped at the base in exchange for the keys to the $100 million  American airbase in the country.
