They got a ticket for failing to secure the load with safety chains.

That and the rental company wanted the truck impounded because the rental had ended a while ago and the renter hadn't returned it.

I remember talking to a boat repair guy once upon a time.

Someone bought a fancy new speed boat.  Was out on the water with it.

Brought it over to the repair center in the marina because it just wasn't performing how they thought it should.

So repair center sends out a diver to check and see if maybe the prop was having issues, was the wrong pitch, whatever.

Diver took all of a few seconds to figure out the issue.

Underneath the waterline the boat was still solidly secured to the trailer.

Watched a group of young men with a new truck push a new boat on a trailer into the water at a boat ramp.

I watched as the skeg of the motor dug into the bottom and they continued to push and push with the truck until they got the boat in the water and off the trailer.

I watched the first guy climb over the bow into the boat and look at the stern.  Then I watched them all pull the boat back back on the trailer and out of the water.  Then they looked at the transom on the ramp that was broken away from the hull. They eventually drove away.

It was a fun day.

"When I'm Gone" lyrics

"When I'm Gone"

A bright sunrise will contradict the heavy fault that weighs you down
In spite of all the funeral songs the birds will make their joyful sounds
You wonder why the earth still moves, you wonder how you'll carry on
But you'll be okay on that first day when I'm gone

Dusk will come with fireflies and whippoorwill and crickets call
And every star will take its place and silvery gown and purple shawl
You'll lie down in our big bed, dread the dark and dread the dawn
But you'll be alright on that first night when I'm gone

You will reach for me in vain
You'll be whispering my name
As if sorrow were your friend
And this world so alien

But life will call with daffodils and morning glorious blue skies
You'll think of me some memory and softly smile to your surprise
And even though you love me still you will know where you belong
Just give it time we'll both be fine when I'm gone
