Vietnam veteran Anthony L. Meizis, who served our country in the Navy, died at age 80 in a nursing home. Meizis never married or had children and had only one surviving next of kin.

Three hundred motorcycle riders emerged to escort Meizis to his final resting place.

Watch: Retriever Chases Bear Away from 4-Year-Old Boy

A family in Sherman, Connecticut, has their dog to thank for keeping their toddler safe from a black bear. Surveillance footage of the Grant family’s backyard shows their golden retriever chasing the bear away from their four-year-old son and running it off the property. The father, Greg Grant, shared the video footage with WTNH-News in New Haven.

This young fisherman reeled in a wallet containing $2,000 cash and then returned it to the owner who had lost it in the lake a year prior

Okay, this is a great story.

Its star: 14-year-old Connor Halsa, who was on a family fishing trip on Lake of the Woods in Minnesota near the Canadian border.

Kid's out fishing and hooks a big one — and I mean big, like he thought he had the catch of the day, possibly the weekend.

"I thought I had a huge fish, so I set the hook really hard," Connor told WDAY.

When he finally reeled that bad boy in, he realized it was no fish at all; it was a wallet — a wallet packed to the gills with $2,000 in cold hard cash.

Seriously, this kid reeled in a wallet that'd been sitting at the bottom of Lake of the Woods for an entire year.

And I love this — this kid's a genuine hero:

"My dad said we should give it to the person, and I said we should, too," Connor said.

Connor and his family found a business card inside the wallet. They made the call that would lead to Jim Denney, an Iowa farmer who was fishing on Lake of the Woods a year prior when he dropped his wallet overboard…

Denny made the trip from Iowa to Moorhead, where he met the Halsa family and even offered to give Connor money, but the teen turned him down.

Now that's great sportsmanship!

Scout the dog sits on the couch in the lobby of Meadow Brook Medical Care Facility on Thursday, July 13, 2023. It's the spot where staff found him after he escaped from a nearby animal shelter. “He did that one time, two times, three times, and obviously that’s something that you should pay attention to," said adminstrator Marna Robertson. "And I asked the staff, ‘Well, he wants to be here, would anybody like to have a dog?’ And Glacier Hill raised their hand and said, 'Yes, we will take him.' And I do what the staff wants to do, so we did it.”

This little girl asking a piano player if she can play with him is just what you need to brighten your day

Youtube influencer Van was recently playing on one of the public pianos in France's train stations when an 8-year-old girl walked up to him and asked if he knew the song "The River Flows in You."

Van makes a lot of videos of people trying to trip him up and asking him to play obscure music. He's very good, and quickly starts playing whatever song they throw at him.

In this case, the little girl was shy.

Then she asks, "Can I play violin with you?"

Watch 👇

What I didn't expect was for her to be so full of joy while she played.

My goodness! She's just beaming.

Now I hope you are too!

Katharine Hepburn’s childhood, in her own words.
“Once when I was a teenager, my father and I were standing in line to buy tickets for the circus.
Finally, there was only one other family between us and the ticket counter. This family made a big impression on me.
There were eight children, all probably under the age of 12. The way they were dressed, you could tell they didn't have a lot of money, but their clothes were neat and clean.
The children were well-behaved, all of them standing in line, two-by-two behind their parents, holding hands. They were excitedly jabbering about the clowns, animals, and all the acts they would be seeing that night. By their excitement you could sense they had never been to the circus before. It would be a highlight of their lives.
The father and mother were at the head of the pack standing proud as could be. The mother was holding her husband's hand, looking up at him as if to say, "You're my knight in shining armor." He was smiling and enjoying seeing his family happy.
The ticket lady asked the man how many tickets he wanted? He proudly responded, "I'd like to buy eight children's tickets and two adult tickets, so I can take my family to the circus." The ticket lady stated the price.
The man's wife let go of his hand, her head dropped, the man's lip began to quiver. Then he leaned a little closer and asked, "How much did you say?" The ticket lady again stated the price.
The man didn't have enough money. How was he supposed to turn and tell his eight kids that he didn't have enough money to take them to the circus?
Seeing what was going on, my dad reached into his pocket, pulled out a $20 bill, and then dropped it on the ground. (We were not wealthy in any sense of the word!) My father bent down, picked up the $20 bill, tapped the man on the shoulder and said, "Excuse me, sir, this fell out of your pocket."
The man understood what was going on. He wasn't begging for a handout but certainly appreciated the help in a desperate, heartbreaking and embarrassing situation.
He looked straight into my dad's eyes, took my dad's hand in both of his, squeezed tightly onto the $20 bill, and with his lip quivering and a tear streaming down his cheek, he replied; "Thank you, thank you, sir. This really means a lot to me and my family."
My father and I went back to our car and drove home. The $20 that my dad gave away is what we were going to buy our own tickets with.
Although we didn't get to see the circus that night, we both felt a joy inside us that was far greater than seeing the circus could ever provide.
That day I learnt the value to Give.
The Giver is bigger than the Receiver. If you want to be large, larger than life, learn to Give. Love has nothing to do with what you are expecting to get - only with what you are expecting to give - which is everything.
The importance of giving, blessing others can never be over emphasized because there's always joy in giving. Learn to make someone happy by acts of giving.”
