Walt Longmire
No, but when I was a kid we did the 'hide under your desk drills.' But since just a mile down the highway was a Naval listening base that monitored the Pacific Ocean, we knew we'd be dead meat if **** went south. **** those commies. 3
GT4494
My whole life I have lived in "Target" areas. What I tell people is that after a strike (and I hope that never happens) they will slowly die while fighting for food and water, I will have long been dust! Remember, "Its the ones you don't hear that will get you every time!"

aomagrat
No, but that would be cool. I was a GMT (Bomb) in the navy. That's the navy way of saying nuclear weapons maintenance technician.
Walt Longmire
I have a Fall Out Shelter sign from back in the day.
Walt Longmire
I remember a field trip to our state capitol (Olympia) and part of the tour they showed us the stash of water and stable food in the basement. I doubt they show that kind of stuff to the public these days. I imagine back then they were trying to reassure us that the Gubmint was prepared. It would just make them a target for looting these days in a SHTF scenario.
willie-pete
I lived in one of these also.
Mrs.Cicero
Nah. But when I was growing up, the Nike missile site 10 minutes from home was turned into a public pool and we all spent nearly every day in summer swimming in it. They were ever so inventive about naming it Nikesite Park...
Historian
I have a small collection of that kind of stuff. Interesting times. When i went to college the student dorm i lived in (briefly) had an old faded civil defense sign on the side with an arrow pointing to a bunker. That bunker was cleared out and turned into a dining area.
blueiron
There are no more civil defense supplies, unless you're part of the DC elite and part of the CoG. Spouses and children need not apply.
