Marent Gulch Trestle Bridge, built in 1883 by the Northern Pacific RR. Tallest wooden RR trestle in the world. 226' Tall/866' Long - 12 Miles NW of Missoula, MT just off Hwy 93.

On the second picture, for scale, you will see 2 men sitting on the 7th sill from the bottom on the right trestle. On the ground, just to the left of the right trestle, about halfway between the bottom of the trestle and the edge of the picture is a man on horseback. There are other pictures with these items circled in yellow but I hate those kind of pictures and I had to seriously search for one without graffiti on it.

Walter Botts, the man who modeled the iconic pose of Uncle Sam for World War 2 recruitment posters photographed in front of a poster in 1970 at the opening of Uncle Sam’s Newsroom Restaurant and Lodge.

The original creator of the iconic Uncle Sam images was J. M. Flagg who used a modified version of his own face for Uncle Sam. After the successful use of the image in World War 1, when asked to update the design for use in World War 2, Flagg hired the Indiana-born veteran Walter Botts to pose for him.
