The rotor was vertical and comprised the mast. As others did before him. I think Tous and others would have a great deal to say about the inherent drag in this design for an aircraft. Canards need to be enormously strong and that equals a lot of extra weight. Weight you wouldn’t need if the manufacturer simply put the wings were God intended them to go.
