Trying to get out of the way of a train he'd tripped, and both legs were amputated just above his ankles, his feet were brought in a box, ice surrounding them. Less than 15 minutes since it occurred, there was an intense buzz in the room to prep him for the O.R, to get the best outcome. Lab was drawing blood, x-ray, surgery, police, nurses all contributing to the loud buzz in the room to give this man the best future possible. One young resident was taking a medical history from the man. Eventually he got to the word "Height" and he dutifully asked "How tall WERE you?" Suddenly you could hear a pin drop as the 20 or more care givers stopped what they were doing, and all were staring at the resident taking the history with the same expression that said "YOU *******!!" The resident looked embarrassed and was busily pointing to the questionaire, the 2 leg stumps, and the box where his feet were sitting.
