While that was a bug in the broker platform, I see screenshots with real numbers like the one below all the time.

Noobs like the guy in the story hear about stocks and cryptos, see some fake mentors that try to sell courses with a flashy Lambo shown on YouTube or Instagram, buy the bullshit course, throw 30k at a broker account, make some lucky wins in the first few weeks, think they mastered the game, go yolo (all-in) on a hyped stock when its already way up, based on fomo (fear of missing out), see the stock price go against them, don't sell in time with a small loss, and turn into dumb bag holders, making a huge loss.

On a hype stock, you can lose those 69% within an hour.

Huge loss in $GME and $AMC, still holding it...not sure if we recover : wallstreetbets

When I go to a casino I buy a roll of whatever denomination buys a handle pull on a slot machine - nickel, dime, quarter - and when that’s gone so am I. Got an evening’s entertainment for the cost of a first run movie ticket or less.

When I buy a stock I plan to hold it indefinitely.

I’m quite aware that my personality isn’t suited for day trading. Or gambling.

I'm a crackhead that hasn't smoked it. Only time I ever stepped foot in a casino, was when I missed my exit outside Joplin, wound up in Miami, and bought a carton of smokes. At like 9am. Troof.

The house always wins, and I'm glad I didn't stay!

ETA: Those were some shitty squares to say the least.

I once bought gas in the state car at a casino.  I was running low and it was the first gas station I had seen in awhile.  I saw it was attached to a bigger building but didn't know what it was. Found out when I went in to pee.  They had this older black lady in a suit jacket near the door as security.  I thought it was kind of odd till I looked down the hallway to the casino part.  They did have nice foam cups though.  Seemed a bit better quality than most convenience stores.

I know enough to not try that kind of investing.  I don't really understand it well enough to gamble big money away.

I know the rules to all the games,  but I'm just not good at them.  (I have a friend that was professional.  He could win at everything.  Most of the time.)  I'll play with $50 / $100, that might actually last all night,  but when it's gone,  I am too.

I like the old "pull" slots.  You have to actually learn the new video ones.  And they are all different.  Ain't nobody got time for that.

The last time I was at a casino,  every stool had a video slots built into the bar.  I played penny, nickle, quarter, mostly single line.  I quickly noticed that every single time I got down to 4 cents,  I'd hit for $20.  Every. Time.  It just wanted me to get really hammered and never leave.  Sneaky Indians.

More than once,  I saw my buddy win 30K / 50K (usually roulette) (he could win any poker, too).

And I'd say, "Let's go eat lobster! (he'd often use my money for starters)  And buy some gold trinkets!  Buy guns!  You can buy a truck!"

But he'd never stop.  He'd often keep going until we broke even.  I never understood that part.  I guess it's the addiction.
