SC Tiger
Anyone else find this hysterical? A bulletproof plate - designed to stop a projectile flying at 2000+ FPS - has "handle with care" written on it! I get it - it's designed to work by dissipating energy through spreading it out and by giving in, and that could be compromised if you drop it, etc. And it is designed to take a specific kind of load from a specific angle, etc. But on the surface, it's funny as hell! It's more of the writing on the plate that I find hysterical than that actual picture.
kerbie18
When I was issued my ceramic plates, they warned us a hard drop onto one corner could damage them. Besides, never underestimate a marine's ability to damage equipment. ?
tous
I find the sequence of instruction amusing, particularly the second: Strike Face. Whose face are they supposed to strike? 2 hours ago, kerbie18 said: Besides, never underestimate a marine's ability to damage equipment. ? Or the Navy's ability to repair it. 1

tous
The good news is, it's already Navy gray.

tous
They were just testing to destruction. If it ain't broke, a Marine hasn't had hands on it.
holyjohnson
at damn near 7 LBS per plate they oughta say handle as little as possible. the backside is funny because on the angled cut it says "TOP" because the writing being upside down wasn't a good indication. Cougar_ml
We also got told things like "don't put the ceramic plates in the freezer" and stuff like that. The ceramic plates are designed to absorb energy from one good hit. If it's been dropped and the ceramic cracks at all, there is a chance it will no longer do it's job properly, and so needs replaced. So yeah, as funny as it seems that an armor plate should be handled with care, they mean it.
