There are so many problems with this I can't even begin to describe them.  Read it for yourselves.

Starting in 2020, all new homes in California must come with solar panels. Builders are getting ready

If you accept the cost savings Of $19,000 over 30 years, you must accept the inflated value of the initial $8,400 30 years from now too.

Coal waste is "More" than C02? More what? More meaning that it exists in greater amounts? Or that it is more of a pollutant? The Global warming zealots who's theories you're advocating and who you've aligned yourself with are saying that C02 causes global warming and is in effect a pollutant. They dishonestly change the terms of the argument in ways that suit them best.

The fact that they've shifted the argument from global warming to "Climate Change" is just one example of how dishonest they are and why they have no credibility. The popular politically motivated understanding of Climate Change is a faith-based interpretation of actual science and all skeptics and non-believers are scorned and looked upon as heretics and infidels.

How many of those will still be functioning in thirty years, if so how much additional cost to keep them running.

Or the additional cost of pollution... yes, natural gas is way better than coal. Some here don’t know that recycling of batteries and panels exist. Basic science.

Recycling of batteries is a nasty job and most of it is done overseas due to our environmental laws.

And recycling is NOT an energy producer, it is itself an energy drain.  So, there you go.  Push it off on poor countries with high poverty and bad environments.  Typical liberal solution.

It’s not hate to point out problems.  It is actually part of scientific investigation.  You can’t have a solution until you know what the problems are.

And solutions generally take time.

When one side can't stand being challenged, being questioned, being doubted, it should be a clear indication they are either hiding the truth or are not confident of their position.  If science worked like the liberals think it does, we'd still be using Newtonian physics and Einstein would have died an unknown patent clerk.

Do something.  Pour taxpayer money into special interest groups.  Dump taxpayer money into companies owned by your friends and donors.  Shovel taxpayer money into wasteful "green" projects.  Results don't matter.  The only thing that matters is your good intentions, and how virtuous you look to your friends.  Remember...

So how did you get into your line of work?

Out of the Army for a couple of years. Kicking around but not making a lot of money

didnt want to wear a uniform again so I went to JobWorks (around here) and they asked if I ever thought about the railroad.

I said no, and they sent me for testing. The rest is history

22 years now

Somehow, this has ominous portent, and you don't fiddle around with what is working, just to toy around with things.

"A key demand of the Global Investor Statement is to phase out coal-fired power stations across the world."

That is utterly insane, since coal fired power plants produce most of the power in the World. Here in America, it is about 30 percent of production.

A few if my family are in the Electric Power generation business and when I bring this up to them, their response is that they aren't doing this to provide electricity for people.  They are doing this to make money.  If they can find a cheaper fuel, they will convert.  Right now the push is for Natural Gas.  The result will be a rise in cost due to consumption and demand.  But chase it now cause it's cheaper.

Added:  The excuse they feed the public is that it's for the environment.  Makes the companies look better to many of the gullible population.

Nobody does anything for nothing.  The greatest way to make people work is to pay them.  Pay them more if they provide a greater profit for their employers.  Capitalism works because people have a motive to work harder, innovate, create, and take chances to improve product or process.  If it is the interest of the company, it will produce energy more cheaply using renewable sources.

I am guessing here, but there will come a point, when conversion has run its course, and there will remain, a significant amount of coal fired plants.

There are diminishing returns in any business, and just because NG is cheap now, does no mean that it will always be that way. The price fluctuates.

Right now in Tampa Saint Pete, the fuel is coal, I have been to the generating plant, and there is a tipple, and a big pile of coal. Economics work in predictable ways, and right now it is cheaper to use that.

And capitalism does not work right in America anymore, something else is going on, because the switch to NG is mainly political. IMHO.

Then that's the heavy hand of Socialism, not the invisible hand of Capitalism, at work.

The Prairie Island Nuke plant is now a favorite for the Eagles in this area.  The cooling water keeps the Mississippi open in that section most of the year, and Eagles have terrific fishing.

I work at a plant on Lake Champlain in upstate NY,  and where the warm water goes back into the lake is the only open lake forever.  There are hundreds of eagles that live there, year round.  Füd.
