I was a history major in college. Not an engineer like you. I do not understand: Why you would want smaller in caliber. I have suffered ballistic myopia. That is where your .45 looks too small for the situation. You want an 88 cal. Why do i want small when i want big? It's like...somethings on women. They are better big. The energy expended by the round exceeded the mass of the shooter and accelerated his body. Less energy in the round, less displacement of the shooter.
