I hear a lot of joking about MIL's, but I know most are just kidding. My MIL was the most wonderful woman, next to my wife, in my world.  She was my replacement for my Mother when she left.  I loved my mother and my MIL.

My MIL is a super sweet lady. She has caused some problems but she always means well. Just some serious boundary issues.

Unfortunately my mother was the queen of the freaking harpies. She was nothing but cruel to my wife and totally indifferent to my children.  No one visits her grave. Her memory will be soon lost to time.

I never knew my mother in law, she had passed before I met my husband.  

I also know there are more great mothers in law than bad, but it is easy to joke about them.  It is all in good fun.  I'm trying to be a good mother in law to our son's daughter.  I think I am succeeding.
