NPTim
Anyone here a notary public? How do you use it?
tadbart
A coworker has it, and she basically stamps stuff for all of us whenever. It's not a money-maker, by any means. I've thought about getting it, just to enhance my professional credibility a bit.
gwalchmai
I've had several occasions to need one in the past few months (wills, POA, etc.) and I've considered getting one. You probably can't notarize your own stuff, though.

tous
A notary basically ensures that you are who you say you are and is present to witness your signature on a document. 4
Dric902
A professionally verified signature can be very useful
Historian
Most states allow law enforce to "notorize" official papers for each other....anyway. I've thought about doing this because when you need one you need a notory. Might not make a lot of money at it...but seriously...everyone needs one now and then.

Zonny
I use it at work only. If A family member or friend needs something notarized, I will bring home my supplies to take care of their needs but otherwise it's all work related. Contracts/agreements and such.
railfancwb
Most banks have notaries who will do the occasional document pro bono for customers. Fun fact: Generally speaking, notarization is useless for transferring stock certificates. Either a bank or stock broker signature is required. Reason: The bank or broker guarantee has cash value if they guarantee a forged signature. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
blueiron
My state will not allow notaries to perform notarial services for one's self or relatives. It is strongly discouraged to do it for friends as it calls into question objectivity of the notary. 1

Here in FL, they must attest "Personally known to me" or that it was a professional service.
