pizza_pablo
Here in Ohio up by the Lake it is just shy of 50 deg. right now. Rare for this late in the year. I'm not complaining, going to throw a few more old tires on the brush pile to help global warming along. Dave..When stationed in Connecticut, I worked with a guy from Ohio. He absolutely loathed snow, from all his years of shoveling it.He was getting out of the Navy and when we asked him where he and his family were going, his reply was, "I don't know, but I'm going to nail a snow shovel on the front of the mini van and drive south. When someone asks 'What is that?', I'll know we've gone far enough."I'll likely never forget that! [emoji16] 1

Walt Longmire
Still mid 20's, but we had a Bucking Flizzard last night. Wind was blowing and a dry snow coming down. Of course the only snow plows out were ones doing private drives. The state and borough employees were too busy celebrating Christmas and drinking eggnog. I'm plowing my stuff today with the Volvo loader. Tomorrow I'll be hauling for the city.

Huaco Kid
In 1948, The "Donora Smog" was caused by a temperature inversion and killed 20 people and sickened 7,000. The smog wasn't unexpected, so everyone just went about their business as usual. But it lasted a week. It was the event that eventually created the industry I work in. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1948_Donora_smog 1
Huaco Kid
Grandma worked in Pittsburgh. Being properly dressed required white gloves. She took three pair every day. She said they were all soot-black at the end of the day. 1
