Natural (not National) tunnel in Virginia near Bristol. The track went in during the late 1800s. Norfolk Southern now owns it. Passengers at the platform in the first picture had several hundred steps between them and the outside.

Sometimes it's hard to decide which is more impressive -- the land or the sky. On the land of the featured image, for example, the Volcano of Fire (Volcán de Fuego) is seen erupting topped by red-hot, wind-blown ash and with streams of glowing lava running down its side.

I think it's the viewer that has to relate the picture of the magnificence of the Milky Way Galaxy, and the visual proof presented with the knowledge that we are an insignificant mote in it, to the awesome mechanisms that formed this insignificant tiny plane of our   significance.  Billions of worlds of which we are only one.
