I like the newer kind that can switch from right to left hand drive. The wheel base looks awfully short making it a tip O’matic.

The Unimog is one of the the products that helped get Germany’s industrial machine back online, after WWII. It was also vital to the rebuilding of the nation’s infrastructure. The Unimogs got used for just about everything. They are like Swiss Army Knives with portal axles.

the ability to move the steering and controls from side to side was a great innovation. Imagine what a force multiplier a Unimog would be for a small city/county government. One truck could perform dozens of different jobs by simply attaching a different option package.

I wonder if the Tucker styling influenced or was influenced by the Studebaker of its era.

Could be. I believe the Tucker came first. A new and unique design feature on a vehicle can sweep through the auto industry like a wildfire. A good example is the 1930s Chrysler Airflow, which was copied by dozens of other automotive designers. The Airflow made quite a splash in Germany and it heavily influenced the look of the Volkswagen though.

Another example is the 1994 Dodge truck. Dodge caught Ford and GM flat-footed with that new design. Dodge’s move to Mexico allowed them to keep the new design largely secret. It didn’t take the style long to catch on with other truck manufacturers.

Wonder how much longer there will be enclosed shopping malls where new vehicles can be displayed? Another display option, lobbies of giant megiplex movie theaters, may already be gone due to the virus plus Disney et al changing to streaming for new releases.

That picture was taken at the Corvette Museum, in Kentucky. That's the museum giftshop on the other side of the car.

The onwer of that Vette paid extra for the optional delivery of his car there. You get the VIP treatment and you get to drive the car right off the museum showroom floor. There are quite a few things included in the package. It would be a great way to pickup your new Vette.
