That 2 liter had possibilities. My wife got pissed at me for teaching my son how to drive the manual without using the clutch. You had to "be the drivetrain".

All the little kids at my kid's grade school wanted to ride in it like my daughters could. They would freeze their little asses off just to be envied by their peers. My wife loved it. At 20,000 miles it spun a rod bearing. The dealer said that they were very reliable cars. I told him I only had one, and it was a piece of crap engine. My data was better than his opinion.
Administrators Eric Posted August 16, 2019 Author Administrators Share Posted August 16, 2019 Gotta love Mopar power. The GTX was a fun ride. I put a lot of miles on one, with a 440/4-speed. It handled like a bus, but point it in a straight line and watch it go. 1

I could accelerate quick from stop lights, but in speeding down the freeway, I downshifted while braking, then accelerating to make an off ramp and the rear axle wrapped up and slammed into the body like a big hammer. I didn't like that, and the fact that during the turn to the ramp, it handled like it was suspended in the center by a single rubber grommet.
janice6
I think in the muscle car era, all the emphasis was on dragging, not handling.

Administrators Eric Posted August 17, 2019 Author Administrators Share Posted August 17, 2019 A 1971 Saab Sonett, powered by a 1,500cc Ford Taunus V-4 engine. It’s an odd, but interesting little car. 2
Administrators Eric Posted August 17, 2019 Author Administrators Share Posted August 17, 2019 And this car could comfortably fit a Saab Sonett and a couple of its closest friends in its trunk.

Didn't people joke about the trunk size in terms of how many bodies it could hold. 1

Great old truck. 2

A few years ago one of our used car lot customers bought his father one of these and had it gone over at their mechanic's shop.
