gwalchmai Posted August 4, 2020 Share Posted August 4, 2020 Our girlcat, Katie, spent her first 11 years with us as an exclusively indoor cat. Last fall we built a house next door to the farm where Katie was born and spent her kittenhood. Lately we've been leaving the sliding door to the back porch open in the mornings and she goes out into the back yard and lolls around in the grass, with occasional forays into the woods between our house and next door. She's real good about coming back in an hour. Today I was in my office and Katie came back from the woods with a two-inch skink (minus a tail). Other than a grasshopper, this was her first kill. I thanked her profusely, picked up the skink and pretended to eat it, and said she needed to bring one for Mama. Katie's been walking around all afternoon as pleased with herself as she can be.
