I always get a nest on my garage lights under the overhang every year.  LED's so they don't cook the chicks.

One year I took out the nest after the chicks had left and found a nest of spiders.

I went on the internet and found that some birds put spiders in their nest to kill the parasites that feed on the baby chicks.  The spiders apparently don't harm the birds.

It was good. Growing up in the 60s and 70s had some advantages. But then again our mothers slathered us in Mercurochrome also.

One time I got Lice from some baby Red Squirrels, and I was afraid to tell my mother, so I treated them with Lysol.  I finally won the battle.

My go to as a youngster was Merthiolate and Lysol.  I guess I figured that if you couldn't feel it, it wasn't doing anything.
