jmohme
This should do the trick! 1
crockett
Don't laugh but that idea goes straight into my repertoire for options if the motor of my minivan beater needs to come out one day. I own a matching ladder but have no room for an engine hoist in my garage.
Administrators Eric Posted March 19, 2021 Administrators Share Posted March 19, 2021 It would have been easier to unbolt the subframe and lower the whole engine/trans/subframe down onto the ground as one unit.

I tried that once. A car on jack stands that high is a decent risk.

railfancwb
So... you get the engine unbolted and lifted. What then? You apparently cannot move the vehicle or the engine to get horizontal separation.
jmohme
The guy owns a ladder, he probably has a wheelbarrow and a sheet of plywood for a ramp.

As opposed to using an aluminum later for an A-frame? I’ve helped pull engines with three or four guys just muscling it out of the car. If you pull the heads, intake etc, the block really isn’t horribly heavy.
Al Czervik
Andre the Giant would pull that for a sixer of Pabst.
