Charlotte and Marjorie Collyer, survivors of the sinking of the Titanic which took place in April 1912. They were 2nd class passengers on the ship and Charlotte’s husband/Marjorie’s father, Harvey Collyer, died in the disaster. Photo taken in June 1912.

A circa 1936 photograph of Gutzon Borglum’s model for the Mount Rushmore National Memorial. This shows that the original plan was for the heads to also have bodies and hands. This came to an end when Gutzon died in 1941, and then the project ran out of money after his son took over.

Veteran of the American Revolutionary War (1775-1783), Reverend Levi Hayes, photographed in the 1840s. Hayes served as a fifer in a Connecticut regiment. Hayes was born in 1764 and died at the age of 83 in 1847.

A soldier looking at a mirror with a sign reading "IF YOU TALK TOO MUCH, THIS MAN MAY DIE". at Camp Hood, Texas in January 1943. The sign was placed there to encourage people to not spread information that might be sensitive in the War effort during World War II.

The first inauguration of the 16th President of the United States, Abraham Lincoln, taking place at the U.S. Capitol in Washington, D.C on March 4th, 1861. Another feature of this image is that you can see that the dome of the Capitol building is under construction. The second dome was built between 1855 and 1866.
