My cousin in Portland is a gun owner for the first time in his life.

He's a 50 something right leaning Libertarian (aren't most of us).  Always supported the 2nd as an absolute right but never had any interest in firearms.  But yesterday he was hit square in the face with a hard dose of reality.  While just trying to go to work a klan of masked antifa terrorist ninjas with some new and creative way to be pissed off about something or other felt entitled to swarmed his car...because reasons.  He lost a rear view mirror in the process...because reasons.  When he called to ask my suggestion I said a Glock 19 as well as something less lethal.  I figured he'd lose interest before actually making the purchase.  I'm pleasantly surprised to report that he in now the proud owner of the G19...and a Colt M-4...a few kinds of pepper spray...and a **** ton of mags and ammo.  He also signed up for 2 training classes and started the CCW process.

I'll make a Texan out of him yet.  ??

Never forget that car they are swarming is a better weapon than 124 grains of jacketed lead.

Remind him that the mere fact of owning a gun is NOT some magic talisman that will protect and keep safe him and his loved ones safe.

But he is taking a step in the right direction!

Is that Portland ME, or Portland on the left coast?

Lot of antifascist riots in Portland Maine right now, or should you flex your situational awareness muscle, Lana........

Your cousin had a 2000 lb weapon that he should have put to use.

The democrats blocked the intersection.  He had cars in front and back.  The democrats seem to be escalating their violence.  They have gone from just blocking traffic to damaging property.  He said that they opened cars with unlocked doors and terrorized the occupants.  It's only a matter of time until they start dragging people from their cars like BLM has done.

They are looking the other way and allowing the democrat terrorists to run wild.

Can't blame them, if it weren't be politically ordered.

Nobody likes to look at those disease ridden pests. That communistic pandemic causes delirium for them, and the need to puke and curb stomp for us.

Interesting scenario:

You're driving alone downtown when traffic stops. It's bumper to bumper and you become aware that the cars aren't moving with the light. Then you see the crowd, filtering toward you between the cars. They are dressed in black and have their faces covered with scarves or balaclavas. Some are wearing armor, and some carry bags and batons. They are angry and yelling.

As they reach your car, they pound on the hood, try the locked handle of your door, and stand outside your window, yelling and pounding on the glass.

On your hip is your CCW and extra mag (if you carry one).

For me, the tripwire would be the glass of the car. Until it breaks, they are outside and I am inside, and I'd rather let insurance handle the scratches to the paint. But, as soon as my cage is breached, it's go time. That's a hostile act, and my personal ROE says repel boarders, especially those in a mob. I've seen people beaten badly inside their cars through the window, unable to move to fend off the kicks and punches.

What would you do?

I'm wondering when one of these Antifa riots will end up with a bunch of people surprised they're full of bullet holes.

Oregon is a shall issue state.  The peasantry in The People's Republic of Kalifornistan are required by law to be victims.

Break a window, attempt to break a window, open a door or enter my vehicle in any way.  And if I see any of them with a firearm or deadly impact weapon the gloves come off...and the truck goes in 4WD low.

I do live in Texas where the rules are different.  Outside of Austin liberal terrorism is frowned upon.

And in this day and age there is no excuse to not have a forward and rearward facing dash cam.  They cost less than a few boxes of ammo.  Mine already saved me from being charged with an accident.  It could keep one from being charged with murder.

Did your cousin break the mirror himself by accident, or did they get inside the car?

Glad he is okay, and glad he is on the road to self protection.

Living in the People's Republic of Maryland, I'm unfamiliar this 'CCW' term. ?
