Hyperion, the world’s tallest tree looms over the forest of Northern California. The tallest trees on Earth are the Coast Redwoods (sequoia sempervirens) that rise over the mist shrouded coastline of Redwood National Park, in Northern California. And Hyperion is the king of these giants, according to Guinness World Records. When it was last measured in 2019, it stood 380 feet, 9.7 inches tall, taller than a 35 story building, 1.25 times taller than the Statue of Liberty in New York. Hyperion is estimated to be between 600 and 800 years old.
Starting now, visitors who attempt to see the Guinness World Record tree in person will risk a $5,000 fine and six months in jail.
California's Redwood National Park is urging visitors to stay away from Hyperion, and the area around it, which has been damaged as a result of the tree's popularity.
An explosion in visitors is threatening the very things national parks try to protect
Hyperion is located in a closed area, meaning there's no formal trail to reach the site. Still, over the years, many tree enthusiasts pursued the trek, trampling and damaging the habitat leading up to Hyperion, according to Redwood National Park.
Employees have also found trash and human waste on the way to the site.
Named after one of the Titans in Greek Mythology, Hyperion was discovered by two researchers in 2006. The park is home to several of the world's tallest known trees, including Helios and Icarus, which are 377 feet and 371 feet respectively.
Redwoods in northern California get their height from a combination of their leaves and the region's climate. Their leaves tend to absorb and store more moisture from morning fog and the species produces burl sprouts, which promotes growth after injury. For these reasons, redwoods are also able to live an incredibly long time.
But their roots are more shallow than those of other trees, which means it's easy for hikers to have an impact on the soil. And like many older things, these trees are delicate.
Hyperion may be a record holder, but the Park Service argues that it doesn't match the hype and that trying to see it isn't worth the penalty.
While the Hyperion is believed to be the world's tallest living tree, it isn't the largest. That title goes to the General Sherman tree in California's Giant Forest of Sequoia National Park.

There’s a FB group, National Snakebite Support, that is run by doctors. You might think this is odd, but many people who get bitten by snakes will first post a photo on social media, and then go looking for professional medical advice and treatment.
No, really, it’s a thing.
There are two forces driving this. The first is outright stupidity. Somehow, there are people who seem to think getting bitten by a venomous snake is right up there with a bee sting or getting a splinter in your finger. While it is highly unlikely you are going to die from snake bite, you might. Then there’s amputation of the body part, usually a hand or foot, necrosis, and a hell of a lot of pain that goes along with snake bite. You might not die, but you’re going to wish you did, if you get enough venom in you. It’s going to hurt.
The next force that pushes people to seek help from strangers on the internet for snake bite is money. Going to the Emergency Room is expensive, and Cro-Fab, the antivenin used to treat snake bites from Copperheads, Rattlesnakes, and Cottonmouths, is incredibly pricey.
Listen to this piece of advice from a random stranger from the internet: Go to the ER. Go see a doctor but do it quickly. Do not wait to update your status or try to save money. Go. To. A. Doctor.
And here’s where even that breaks down.
One of the doctors that started National Snakebite Support has treated over six hundred cases of snake bite in the United States. One thing he realized is the number of medical professionals who have treated even one case is pretty small. And just because the patient didn’t die, that doesn’t mean the doctor did everything right. So, he decided to get people to contact NSS, find out what hospital the victim is heading to, and make sure the doctor knows how to treat the bite.
And yes, indeed, there is an App for that, “Snakebite 911” will put you in contact with medical personnel who can guide you towards the right place for the right sort of treatment.
One of the guys who is in the group did a study on why and how people get bit. Seems like most bites are from accidental contact with snakes, like stepping on one, or putting your hand somewhere the snake is hiding. In second place are those people who get bit while trying to catch a snake, kill it, or playing with it.
Most snake bite kits are useless, and they are dangerous. Toss them. Home remedies do not work. Benadryl does not work. As in most cases for nearly everything, alcohol makes it worse. Do not apply cow manure, electrical shock, burning gunpowder, religious amulets, talismans, the blood of a virgin, horsehair, breakfast cereal, dog saliva, ice, heat, old newspapers soaked in vinegar, or chocolate to a snake bite.
Watch where you walk and leave snakes alone. You’ll be fine.
Take care.

OMG, if you aren’t watching every Paul Joseph Watson video, you are missing out, hugely.
Paul Joseph Watson on Modern Art aka “White Replacement Culture By Barbaric and Useless Trash  Masquerading As Art” - Humiliate, Degrade, Replace.
Watch the whole video to hear awesome quotes such as these. There are too many awesome points of view in this video alone for me to print them all here.
“Everything they produce is vile and ugly because their agenda is vile and ugly because they are vile and ugly.”
“You shall know them by their fruit and their fruit is as rotten as their black hearts.”

Another Florida ’Not if I shoot you first’ story.

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. - The tables turned on an armed person who was shot and killed after announcing plans to "shoot up the crowd" on a Sunday night. The West Palm Beach Police were dispatched to a family gathering after reports of gunshots were heard at 10:42 p.m. on Aug. 7.
According to officers, a 911 call came in saying someone had been shot, the caller also said he shot the person who took a short-barreled shotgun out of a car, threatening to "shoot the crowd up".
After an investigation, detectives say a fight broke out between two women, which turned into a brawl of around 20 people. The suspected gunman was 22 years old and from West Palm Beach, but the name and gender have not been released.
The police department says the 22-year-old refused to drop the weapon after multiple people confronted the suspect. That's when a 32-year-old man fired his weapon, hitting the armed suspect. The man had a concealed weapon license and remained on the scene with police to cooperate with the investigation.
Detectives say the 22-year-old was pronounced dead on the scene and they are treating this as an isolated incident and are not seeking any other suspects. No charges are pending at this time. The Palm Beach County Medical Examiner will determine the official cause of death.

If teachers could be armed in their classrooms…

The knowledge that any or all teachers could be armed would put a damper on those who wish to shoot unprotected students and teachers.

According to ecotard ideology, cows make it be too warm outside; consequently, they must be abolished. No cows means no butter.
Scientists at Ghent University in Belgium are experimenting with larva fat to replace butter in waffles, cakes and cookies, saying using grease from insects is more sustainable than dairy produce.
Clad in white aprons, the researchers soak Black soldier fly larvae in a bowl of water, put it in a blender to create a smooth greyish dollop and then use a kitchen centrifuge to separate out insect butter.
That’s all right; we can just eat maggot butter:

How did I miss this? This happened on August 15th, 2014
To promote the 2014 International Bacon Film Festival in San Diego, Hormel made a motorcycle that runs on bacon grease, and emits a lovely bacon smell in the exhaust.
To promote the company's reputation as America's favorite doughnut shop, Dunkin' Donuts created the slogan "America Runs on Dunkin'." Now, I'm not calling Dunkin' a liar, but everyone knows that America really runs on bacon, and Hormel Foods has set out to prove it.
San Diego is hosting the International Bacon Film Festival at the USS Midway Museum on August 29. To promote the event, Hormel, one of the most prolific bacon makers in the country, has teamed up with Bio-Blend Fuels to create a motorcycle that runs on a biofuel made out of bacon grease. And they've recruited a "bacon lover" to ride their creation across country from Austin, Minn., to San Diego, with a camera crew alongside to document the journey.
The project was the brainchild of BBDO Minneapolis, an advertising company that has done extensive work with Hormel on the likes of Spam and Hormel's Black Label bacon products.
The journey took the scenic route from Minnesota to California, stopping at the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally in South Dakota, and cruising through Wyoming, Utah, and many other states on the way to SoCal. The finished documentary will be shown at the festival later this month, because bacon.
The motorcycle itself gets between 75 and 100 miles per gallon of fuel, and the exhaust from the bike reportedly fills the air with a mouth-watering bacon smell. We can only hope that converting bacon grease to biofuel becomes a thing, because who could really get upset sitting in traffic with everyone's nostrils filled with that beautiful bacon smell?
