I bought it as an Enduro.

Then turned it into a dirt bike.

Then turned it back into a road bike,  for my first driver's license.

Actually raced it at the local park.

Couldn't keep up with the guys that had trailers that had two lifts,  with three spare engines.

And I had a milk-crate and newspaper money.

If I threw a chain,  game over.

Never came in first.  Never came in last.

I rode that bike through the suburbs,  (we had 1000's of trails),  through the mall-suburbs, (no trails left),  through the black north-side, and across the bridge into Pittsburgh.  Into the city.

We went to skeevy bars and drank Pepsi.  Watched the Pirates on TV.

No one ever yelled at us.

I once crashed that Yamaha into a tree stump,  which was on a regular path,  and ended up with my face buried into the dirt,  with my twisted arm stuck backwards ,  and my leg all stuck off into the back wheel.

I was giving it a frozen, "Ugh.",  because I was very stuck. The bike was on top of me,  leaving not much breathing room.

So my best friend's little brother, Darren,  ran out of nowhere,  and stared at me, fully wide-eyed and scared, for a minute.

Then he ran away.

I think that's the end of that story.

My first bike was a 1971 Yamaha DT-250 . I turned it into a MX 250 then back and sold it to by a 1972  Yamaha AT2 Mx. That started a 10 year racing odyssey of MX and Hare Scrambles. I graduated to 250's in 1975 and was state champion in 250 Hare Scrambles in 1977 racing 39 weekends out of 52. Placed 2nd in 1979 and then my first son was born. Had a really hard endo on a triple jump 6 months later and decided maybe my son might like his dad in one piece so I sold the bikes and became "responsible" lol. My current ride is a mint 1982 IT-250 F.
