GOOD on YOU man!!!  I never had that chance.  I never had any "pocket Change" when I was in the 9th Grade.  We ate in the "mess hall" in the school.  AND  we wern't allowed to leave "campus".

Steel was expensive and got used till there was damn near nothing left.

I remember Roy Underhill demonstrating a handmade tool made from an old clock mainspring. I don't recall what it did exactly, but it was some sort of scraper or scorer.
