I have an ancient memory that one of her roles was as a convicted murderer on death row. This was based on a real situation. And that the real murderer’s execution was a “first” of some kind.

But I don’t remember the name of the movie.

Can anyone help?

I know you're right, but I don't remember the name either...

In the very late 40's and  early 50's my father and mother used to drive us  kids 50 miles to Minneapolis, to see the Christmas window displays from the biggest department stores in the state.

Each window was a different theme and many were for children.  Some were for women showing the latest fashion.

Then we would wander through the many floors of the stores looking at all the toys, home furnishings, and clothes.

We used to look forward to these trips since it was like an adventure for us.

Back then it was like a trip to Disney land now, without the expense.

For awhile in my small town Christmas season’s arrival was heralded by the Christmas Parade following Thanksgiving. Whether that Friday or Saturday I don’t recall. Santa Clause rode a float in the parade and thereafter took his seat on his throne in the toy department of THE department store.

The donation board came out for the parade or immediately thereafter. A dime for The March of Dimes for polio. Eventually vaccines against polio were developed and most of the people in iron lungs because of polio recovered enough to get out... or died. Think The March of Dimes moved to fighting birth defects as their cause once polio was gone.

I remember the Lionel train layouts in that store’s toy department. Just those, none of the other toys.

Sounds like "I Want to Live" about Barbara Graham, 1st woman executed in the gas chamber (?) But that had Susan Hayward in the lead.
