I hope 1) that she escapes the courtroom unscathed, 2) that the police union and police department stand behind her financially, and 3) that she can counter sue and collect damages including from the ambulance chasing attorney.

For the opposing side,  NYC  has become so wary of people, and the distrust of each other is so great, that most establishments will not honor "promises to pay",  (Credit or checks)  So people must carry cash to function in the city.

Now that the criminals know that everyone is carrying cash, the idea of a mugging is quite a profitable one.  So for the worry and fear of a cashless society, the alternative is an increase in crime.

My position is that I can't stand CCards, or credit spending in any form.  I choose checks or cash.  If a CC number is stolen, many purchases can be made on the card before it's stopped.  If a check is stolen, it is good for one fraud, once.  In either case, the financial institutions will reimburse your loss, in some cases a statement of Fraud is required.

But with the distrust within our society, we do not trust each other to the point that either a CCard is used or cash.
