'Army 'returns' birthday cake to Italian woman after eating it in 1945
Soldiers from the U.S. Army garrison in Italy helped celebrate an Italian woman's 90th birthday on Thursday by giving her a cake to replace the one eaten by American servicemen during the closing days of World War II.
Meri Mion will celebrate her 90th birthday on Friday and got teary-eyed when soldiers presented her with a cake 77 years in the making, according to a report. Mion was given a ceremony northwest of Venice in Vicenza on the anniversary of the battle for the city, which took place on about April 28, 1945, the report noted.
Throughout the night, a young Mion hid with her mother in the attic of their farm as German soldiers fired on the house, the Army said.
The next morning was her 13th birthday, and she awoke to find that the birthday cake her mother had baked was missing. The cake had been let on the windowsill to cool and was taken by American soldiers looking for a treat, the Army said.
Servicemen had been welcomed by the Italians with food and wine as they entered Vicenza's main thoroughfare, according to the report.
Mion was grateful to see the cake "returned" almost eight decades later. "Mama mia," she exclaimed. "Grazie." "Tomorrow, we will eat that dessert, with all my family remembering this wonderful day that I will never forget," Mion said.' SOURCE: WASHINGTON EXAMINER by Luke Gentile, April 28, 2022

Biden’s has created a new Disinformation Governance Board to silence so-called ‘misinformation and disinformation’, especially when it comes to elections.
This morning Governor DeSantis weighed in on this, saying Biden is essentially creating a ‘Ministry of Truth’ and that he’s not going to let Biden get away with it, that Florida will be fighting back against this.
DeSantis argues that what the Biden administration wants to do is “put out false narratives without people being able to speak out and fight back.”
He continues: “They want to say things like ‘Russia collusion and perpetuate hoaxes and have people like us be silenced. They want to be able to advocate for COVID lockdowns. They want to be able to advocate for school closures, things that are not supported by the evidence. But then when you speak out, they want to stifle dissent. And so we reject this bureau in the state of Florida.”
DeSantis suggested he believes in the right of Americans to speak out against their government, saying “We believe it is essential that individual Floridians and Americans are able to speak out against false narratives trying to be jammed down our throats by this regime.”
DeSantis also points out that instead of the Biden administration trying to do better with their policies and turn things around, which have clearly been going in a bad direction, they are just trying to shut their critics up.
