Different groups can do different things. Religiously.

These guys could have a briggs-and-stratton engine in the backyard,  and a washing machine in the kitchen.

Only, the washing machine was stripped bare,  they took all the covering off,  all the wiring out,  the motor off, and only had a frame and the bucket.  they welded a handle onto the part.

They would fill it with water, five gallon buckets,  throw the detergent in,  and they had a 100' fan-belt going into the backyard to the gas engine,  and the wash-tub would go chug-chug.  And they'd stop it,  drain it with  a hose-valve, they welded the handle so they could jam it into a spin-cycle,   go through the rinse cycle.  And had drying-lines.

They don't have zippers.

I don't know.

You never ate so good.

The old men are very nice and welcoming.

The little children will have nothing to do with you and will run away.

The teenagers will try to lure you behind the barn.  Wheres't your ass will promptly be whipped.  It's not a joke. They will.

I went to a retirement farm auction.

I didn't need any horses.  I wished I had got some of the rocking-chairs.

I put my hand up on a rifle-bid.

My buddy (the guy who took me there) slapped me in the head.

50 rifles, all 100 years old.

The English can't have great-great-grandpa's rifles.

So, slap in the head.

After the Army, I was manufacturing houses for a while. A lot of the workforce was Amish.

I was told that they can use things like air nailers, power tools,  but they can’t own them.

seems like a distinction without a difference

Would you rather own a boat, or have a friend who owns a boat and lets you use it?
