Long story, we ( Dad, Mom and my future wife) took this truck along with a trailer out on a 2 month tour of the western US in summer 1973. In Wyoming the truck blew out one of the 350's freeze out plugs in the middle of nowhere. I hitchhiked into town to get a tow truck out to us. The garage I stopped at had a 1958 ford tow truck. He came out and hooked both car and trailer up and towed us into town. Parked us on side of the garage ran power cord out to the trailer so we had power for the night. It was a Sunday so couldn't get parts till next day. I and my Dad thought this was going to be the end of the trip because of the repair cost. To our astonishment everything said and done came to a whopping $78. Unbelievable the generosity and compassion of that service station owner. We had a wonderful trip afterword! Had to pull the engine to fix it. Least I wasn't on a long trip. Glad yours worked out. Great to run into really nice people like that.

A Mustang bodied funny car called Brand X. It is even more impressive in person. I took pictures too, but ironically, they burned when my house burned down. railfancwb
Looking at that 1956 Cadillac on its way to the crusher found some confusion... but maybe it’s just me. Note the tail fins on these two Cadillac model 62 convertibles, both labeled as 1956 models. One has fins like those of the car to be crushed. Fins on the other look more like 1957 Chevrolet fins. Is the one with 1957 Chevrolet style fins actually a 1957 Cadillac?
