"Red Flag" legislation

Don't like it. What a wonderful way to disarm people! Imagine a Dem President, with a Dem Congress, and a Dem Governor, with a Dem legislature. Then imagine asking Mr. Strzok and his allies for constitutional guidance on it.

Assault weapons ban? The "inconvenient" truth is that the Clinton DOJ dissected the effect of their assault weapons ban and found that it had no measurable effect whatsoever on whatever they were trying to accomplish.

"I ask, sir, what is the militia? It is the whole people, except for a few public officials." – George Mason, Virginia Ratifying Convention, June 1788

It's amazing how so many people can be so predictable that you could time them by a stop watch. Ye olde adage carries true to this day, "Once an a--hole, always an a--hole".

For example, you can time the Dem leaders to the exact minute. News of a mass killing will bring the same reaction, over and over again. AWB! Send us funds and we'll fix it! Gun control!

Beyond the abhorrent idea of using the event as a political fund-raising opportunity, sure...fix things like with Chicago, LA , SF, NY. Sure...of course you want gun control, you are socialists after all. How sensitive of them.

And it's not only Dem leaders. The parrots mingle to form a pandemonium. Want proof? Ask them what an assault weapon is. Of course, they are experts, they shouldn't have any problem with that. And more. Their intellect covers...the WHOLE UNIVERSE!

Life's too short to deal with a--holes. Not worth it.

Even when they know nothing of the items they want to ban, they claim that because they are demanding safety, they don't have to know anything about items they want to ban.

Dammit, some day I want to see someone demand to ban cars because of the deaths they cause, just so I can see the same liberals song and dance as to why it's a bad idea to ban something important to them.

Here's an idea. Algorithms.

It is well-known that mass killers are social media fanatics. It's not like they have many friends, if any at all, and their support groups reside in social media. Unless they surf anonymously, their IP addresses are readily available. And even those who encrypt it can be determined.

Instead of  policing through red flag legislation, follow them through their social media posts. And act when necessary. That approach could eliminate the "I hate my neighbor" syndrome and better determines who is in  need of being intervened with.

They must love mine.  I use it to research anything I am curious about.  A curious mind keeps it afloat.  You can learn a lot things that way.  You can look up projects back when I could build.  You can look up the dismal rules that go with hydroponics.  I found that interesting, until you look at the rules by Texas Game.  The most common fish species that thrives in such as system are considered an invasive species.  Even if you are working on dry land, you are creating a contained wet environment for them, which is a violation.  The indigenous species here cannot withstand the heat of the system.  It is a brilliant design that takes nitrates from the fish to grow plants in a small space, and the fish are in turn fed by the what the plants give off with some aeration.  So, you have fresh vegetables and the fish grow, and you cull them as well.  But, the law is quite specific on that issue.  Then there is the issue that hatchery ducks and turkey's require a license to actually grow on your property.

So, I research a variety of subjects.  I have friends, but I don't hang out with them often.  When one is working the other retired, everyone gets busy with their own stuff.  So, I guess I get a flag for not being the social guy who wants people in and out of his house all the time.  I don't throw loud parties, I dislike them, and sound travels more than you think, even in the woods.  The older folks around me probably wouldn't appreciate it.  So, for me not being the social person my wife is, she'll fare better.  Apparently, I get to go the hoity toity shopping areas.  The joy of having a teenage daughter.  Most of us like to be comfortable, unless you're a metro-sexual or whatever.  My is happy I am a guy-guy because she can't stand all those effete men.

The way I see red flag legislation, due process is given after your guns are taken away. That's not how it is supposed to work with a fundamental  constitutional right. All in the name of convenience and expediency. Have we heard that before?

Nothing in it would deter a couple of neighbors who want to screw someone to "raise the red flag". And that's dangerous. Take away the 2nd and you can take away the 1st. Or the 4th. Then add salt to the wound by having a Strzok-like individual  make the call and you see where it is going.

We do not live in a perfect world. I'd hate to leave it in the hands of a rabid political opponent the decision if I can carry or not. Hence, the algorithms idea to discriminate on whom to pay more attention to. Add well-known psychological  factors (profile) to the mix and it's less intrusive.

Good to read of you again, Moshe.

Profiling is simply forensic psychology and how to apply it.  I used to play games with people just to make an apprehension if I had too.  In the sketchy neighborhoods on your way to work in Laredo when someone looked out of place you just knew by behavior when it was patently obvious.  When it can go either way, you roll down your window and ask the person in the road if they saw someone run by.  If they get abrupt, and say they don't know, you move on,  Job done, they just think you're dumb.  If they look horrified and give you wide eyed terrified look, you knew you had and apprehension.  So, you can do it without offending anyone.  If you think someone is a danger, look at the eyes and hands.  No matter what the mouth is doing, or saying, the eyes are the windows to the soul so-to-speak.  Dead eyes, are the hallmark of sociopath, the hands can hurt you.

Profiling works.  That's why liberals don't like it.

Right now, Moshe, there are some nifty profiles that with a reasonable certainty can determine who might blow up and even when. Reduce them to algorithms. Again, people can be so predictable.

It's not like we haven't been studying these individuals for what seems like ages.

red flag laws based on something someone said that is 'questionable' is a violation of that persons 1st Amendment, disarming and/or detaining someone without due process is a violation of that persons 5th and 8th Amendment.

Illegally seizing someones legal property without Warrant or Probable cause Violates that persons 4th Amendment.

all of that in the process of violating the said persons 2nd Amendment.

also Federal laws on this may not even legally apply to states.

the NRA better get its nuts in order and fight this or there will be no more NRA to fight anything.
