Happyguy
Starting prep tomorrow. Procedure on Thursday. Doc told me they don't use oxygen to inflate the large intestine anymore. Now they use carbon dioxide. The only saving grace of a colonoscopy was farting on a lit match afterward. Now they've even taken that away. tadbart
I hope all went well. I'm approaching my mid 40s. Quite honestly, I'm scared to death. For whatever it's worth, those hoses they stick up there are really cool. A light, a camera, suction, water gun, and a pincher. All in a tube the diameter of a nickel. 1
Happyguy
Thanks for asking. I had my first one 3 years ago and the doc found a large polyp which turned out to be nothing, but he wanted to do another one in three years just to be on the safe side. He didn't find anything this time around. This one is good for 10 years. Regards, Happyguy Edited September 25, 2017 by Happyguy 3
tadbart
attaboy! glad you got a good report, and a reprieve! yeah, polyps grow slow, so after the first clear one, you got time. 1
Tahmail
If anyone is over 50 (or has a history of colon cancer in the family) and hasn't gotten a colonoscopy, get it scheduled! Simple procedure and that cancer is deadly.
NPTim
I was wondering, if they used nitrous oxide instead of carbon dioxide, would there be less cramping?

My uneducated guess based on my experience only, is that the cramping I experienced was due to the pressure of the gas to open the bowels for inspection, not the type of gas.
