Fnfalman
https://www.ruger.com/news/2019-12-31.html Interesting. I’m not interested in a 5.7mm pistol though. But still interesting offer. I’ll just stick with the PS90 as my one and only for that caliber.
Valmet
I have to tip my hat to the guys at Ruger. While I'm seldom inter step in their new offerings, they regularly introduce new things, which is more than I can say for a lot of companies out there.
Fnfalman
I’m thinking that Ruger might release a carbine to go with it. 1

Borg warner
What I like about it is that it's hammer fired single action and hopefully can be carried cocked and locked. The FN Five-seveN is also single action a could be carried cocked and locked too, but the thumb safety is too small and is in an awkward position. I don't really like the cartridge itself. People often think that it has more velocity than it actually does because they confuse rifle velocities with pistol velocities. I think the 22 TCM based on a stretched 9mm case is actually a better handgun cartridge although the long skinny 5.7 does have an advantage in terms of mag capacity. I'd also like to see Ruger offer this same gun in 7.62 x 25 Tokarev and possibly even 9 x 25 Dillon and 40 Super as a single stack. The 9 x 25 Dillon is the 10mm necked down to .355 and the 40 super is the 45 Winchester Magnum necked down to 10mm. Ruger-57 Model: 16401 Action: Single Action Hammer-Fired Capacity: 20+1 Grip Frame: High-Performance Glass-Filled Nylon Barrel Length: 4.94″ Overall Length: 8.65″ Barrel Finish: Black Nitride Slide Material: Alloy Steel Slide Finish: Black Oxide Twist Rate: 1:9″ RH Weight: 24.5 oz Sights: Fiber Optic Front, Adjustable Rear Sights MSRP: $799.00 Edited December 31, 2019 by Borg warner
blueiron
I like that Ruger tried something new. My sole 5.7mm weapon is a PS90 that I carry on a quad. Perhaps the Ruger offering will lower the price of 5.7mm ammo.
Mike
https://www.americanrifleman.org/articles/2019/12/31/tested-ruger-57-pistol/ It comes drilled and tapped for RDS plates to be mounted to the top of the slide, the other down side is the plates are for the cheap RDS (Vortex, Burris) nothing mentioned about Trijicon or Leopold that I can find.

Maybe Ruger figured that people who own their guns tend to go with cheaper optics?

I am going to wait and see what happens, if a plate is made for reliable optics or if they are easy to mill for optics I'll probably try one, if not I won't bother. norton
Article on this pistol in this months AR. Do any of the major manufacturers offer die sets for the cartridge?
