I really want to know what you think about it. Sometimes, while reading a newspaper or watching TV I just feel like I'm going crazy. Liberal agenda here is forced on the readers and watchers beyond anything that I've ever seen before. This is one of only two reasons (gun laws would be the next) why I just can't feel like I belong here. After coming back from work I turned the TV on. Nation wide "information" station transmitted to every household in Canada. Anyway... There is a young fellow who was trying to rent a room with the option of having an overnight guest (price was $10 extra a day). There was a landlord - an older lady. He called her asking about the room and willing to pay extra $10, because he wants his boyfriend to sleep with him. Fine. Older lady refused, saying it's against her values as a Christian to rent her room to the same sex couple. Whatever... He feels offended and is calling the mentioned above TV station. Crew is going to "investigate" the complaint. They interviewing the young fellow, he's going off about human rights violation and such. Lovely female reporter is calling the old lady and asking her why she refused the prospective tenant. She's getting the same answer. Well, that's not good enough obviously, so she keeps asking: "but why"? Older lady dropped the phone on her. Back to the TV studio. Law expert is saying: "believe it or not (in a tone of voice suggesting that we are talking about the mass murder here), but this isn't illegal". They displaying the section of the regulations that pretty much says "a landlord has the right to refuse the tenant for whatever reason if the room would be used to house an additional guest". Lawyer of course is very unhappy with the right of the owner to decide whom she may or may not allow on her property. Opinion poll is suggesting a strong support for the young fellow and his boyfriend with just couple of the voices for the right of the lady to do as she's pleased in accordance with the existing law. Host - a young woman "just can't believe that ANYBODY would defend the landlord in this situation". Co-host (another young lady) is telling us "it's a clear violation of the human rights". THE END. I honestly don't care who are you sleeping with...I'm just not getting how such a "news" can be even on the air. Tell me what do you think? I'm boiling....sorry. It make little difference what the cause is, it is just important that the crusader believes he/she is perceived as being a wonderful person for taking on the cause. Just wait till someone offends the crusader and see how little they care for the other person's rights or freedoms. Many crusaders will call for, nay demand, punishment far in excess of any perception of reasonable or proper. Just that others must be punished severely for not having the same opinions as they do. It's like when a Canadian tells me I'm crazy to live in America with our high murder rate and gun nut culture. I've considered living in other countries like the U.K. And honestly I couldn't. This is the single most frustrating thing our society is going through, right not. The insane idea that Everyone must agree with you or they are the ones in the wrong. What ever happened to sensibilities in the last almost 10 years. Oh, yeah. We were told over and over that, "If it feels good, do it!". Nobody mentions the effect it might have on others. No one cares anymore about the same rights extended to others. One person's perceived rights and indignations do not negate the rights of others. My attention span is short thanks to the internet. I get this Russian Tass Broadcasting Network from the 1970's vibe watching TV today. It is total propaganda. If they do great, no one else's business, if not the transaction does not take place. This goes for just about everything from prostitution to minimum wage to renting a room. You should listen to Armstrong and Getty, look for their podcast. I think you will enjoy it. It will help keep you sane. They spend a lot of time talking about how full of crap the media is. The blatant indicator of manipulation is the appeal to the emotions and not the facts or if facts appear, they are pummeled into a pasty mess to support an invalid conclusion. Regarding your story, you and others are being manipulated, the story is intended to spark indignation among both supporters and those opposed. So, why do you care? Had you never heard this tale of woe, life would be pretty much the same, no? You have no interest, personal, financial or philosophical in those people. At the risk of being punny, you don't know them from Adam and they don't know you. :supergrin: I suppose that a life spent wallowing in the sciences and math gives one a different perspective. Objects don't move in space simply because we want them to. Yell at it, accuse it of racism, threaten police action, carry signs and sing songs, the object just sits there. Math doesn't allow a lie regardless of how much one pouts, imprecates at the gods or throws tantrums. The Universe laughs at T-shirt slogans and claims of victimhood.
