DrB
I have a couple got years ago when they were on the surplus market. One has some blood corrosion that can be seen. Wish it the rifle could talk, I would love to know the battle and how the soldier fell. Dave.. Edited September 12, 2020 by DrB
Historian
The one i had, before the whale, was made in Berlin by Sauer in 1941. Amazing rifle. But if it could talk....it would be interesting. It was an amazing time to be alive.

janice6
At Cub Scout camp I could already swim pretty good. Having learned how in the Granite Quarries around my home town. They had canoes to use at camp. Before you could use the canoe you had to take a "canoe safety course". They had you swamp a canoe, it was really hard, until a friend and I both got on one gunwale and jumped out, flipping the canoe upside down. Then I thought it was really cool to swim underwater and come up inside the inverted canoe with my friend. We could hear yelling outside and quite a bit of commotion, before we decided to come out and see what was going on. After my reprimand, we were taught to flip the swamped canoe upright and to repeatedly slosh the water out of it until we could paddle it to shore. I added a note of "intrigue" to most organized endeavors as a child. (Then later on in the Navy too) Edited September 13, 2020 by janice6

Nope but the leaches down below in the mud were not fun. Some were over a foot long. Also there are always a few Lamprey Eels from the lake that migrate upstream also. Dave.. Valmet
While they've always been neat old milsurps, those Russian captured 98ks have become pretty collectible lately.

I'll have to get some pictures posted up when I get back from the hospital. I have several. The Russians pinged the nazi symbols for the most part but they did forget some along the way. Mine have a few intact. I'll get the thread back on track but I do ttnd to get sidetracked and fuel the fire on switched train tracks sometimes when things go off the tracks. Dave...
