Walt Longmire
Back in my logging days we worked in all kinds of bad weather. It often made a dangerous job even more deadly. I've had some miserable shifts in Alaska working the oilfield also. On the platforms in the Inlet, local refineries, and up on the frigid slope. Been in -40 with howling winds. 100 below with the wind chill. That can get you dead real fast if you screw up.
Huaco Kid
When it's cold enough and the wind blows hard enough, your eyes will tear-up and your eyelids will start freezing shut. So when everyone starts turning Japanese, it might be time to abort the job.
PATCHMAN
In this weather I can't imagine FF using water to fight blazes. Get yourself wet and you turn into a popsicle. Hell, just sweating from over-exertion will have you feeling cold.
Walt Longmire
1st winter in Alaska I took a job falling spruce trees for house logs. Worked hard and fast. I wore black wool long johns and regular logging attire plus a vest. One afternoon I finished my strip before my partner so went and waited at the truck. Sitting on the open tail gate I attempted to remove my aluminum hard hat. No go. The suspension was stuck in my frozen hair. I had been sweating while working. I wasn't cold.
